Quiet 24 Hours Sault Ste Marie OPP are reporting another relatively quiet 24 hours of crime fighting in our detachment area. Yesterday officers responded to several family disputes and a child custody situation.

FATAL FIRE - UPDATE (Blind River, Ont.) East Algoma O.P.P. are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation and can only confirm that the victim in Tuesday’s residential fire in Blind River was 72-year-old Hans JENSEN of 172 Cobden Ave.

Fatal House Fire Investigation Underway (Blind River, Ont.) Shortly after 9:45 a.m. East Algoma O.P.P. were alerted to a house fire on Cobden Ave. in Blind River. Blind River Fire Dept and Ambulance personnel were already on the scene.

Theft from vehicle (Serpent River First Nation Territory) - Sometime after 8 p.m. on the evening of the 24th a Serpent River resident had her vehicle damaged while at a meeting. Culprits had broken into her van and removed the owner’s purse.

Dangerous Drugs Stolen (Little Current, Ont.) – Manitoulin O.P.P. are presently investigating a theft from the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current, where a large number of pharmaceutical drugs were stolen on Wednesday the 23rd February 2005.
