GOULAIS RIVER CRASH SENDS TWO TO HOSPITAL

A two vehicle collision at the intersection of Mahler Road and Hwy 17 yesterday afternoon sent two Goulais River residents to hospital.

At about 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon a mini van was stopped on Hwy 17 to make a turn onto Mahler Road. A second, smaller style pick up truck, was traveling on Hwy 17 in the opposite direction. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. The pick up truck was destroyed in the collision.

Both drivers of the vehicles were taken to Sault and Area Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Both vehicles had to be towed away from the scene. Hwy 17 at that intersection was closed until the wreckage was cleared for the scene. This crash remains under investigation by Sault Ste Marie OPP.
