Abandoned Animals Seized Heyden, Ont.,Sault Ste Marie OPP and the Humane Society were called to a Heyden home yesterday after receiving reports of abandoned animals.

Heyden, Ont.,Sault Ste Marie OPP and the Humane Society were called to a Heyden home yesterday after receiving reports of abandoned animals.

It appears that a tenant of a trailer home on Cedar Court had abandoned the home and left a chinchilla, kittens and a pregnant cat in the home. The Humane Society seized two kittens, the expecting cat and the chinchilla. It appears that the animals were without food and water for about one week.

Fire at scrap yard

Heyden, Ont. - Members of the Aweres Twp Fire Department and the OPP were called to a fire at a scrap yard just past the north city limits.

At about 6 p.m. last night, the owner of the scrap yard was working on a vehicle with a welding torch.

The vehicle caught fire and the owner was unable to put the fire out.

The fire was extinguished by the Aweres Township Fire Department. There was no other damage to any other property.
