After a grueling week of games, Sault Ste. Marie's Al Harnden and Al Belec saw their hopes of a Northern Ontario Men's Curling Championship fall in the playoff round.

The Soo Thunderbirds returned home on Sunday night with four of a possible six points during a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League road swing.

The Soo North Stars will head into the Great North Midget League playoffs next weekend after completing a record breaking sweep in Timmins. On Saturday, the North Stars opened with a 6-2 win before blanking the Majors 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Soo Greyhounds were able to grab two points before heading home from a three-game Ontario Hockey League road trip. On Sunday afternoon, the Greyhounds used two goals from Jacob King to pace themselves to a 4-2 win over the Brampton Battalion.

The University of Michigan beat the Lake State hockey team 4-2 on Saturday night at Yost Arena to give the two teams a weekend split.
