Nine games were played this weekend. With the regular season winding down, teams continue to vie for final playoff positions.

Only the top eight teams in the eleven team league will make this year's playoffs.

Two wins by Lafarge moved them into eighth spot, the final playoff position, and just one point ahead of White Oak Paint. Sports Gold remains tied with BDO Dunwoody at the top of the standings. However, BDO's plus/minus record puts them slightly ahead of the "Pretty in Pink" party.

*** GAME RESULTS:

Sports Gold – 4 Ontario Concrete – 2

Katie Healy had two goals and an assist to lead Sports Gold past Ontario Concrete 4-2. Kathy Pinkse added a goal and an assist and Andrea Jarzombek scored the winner with 7:12 left to play. Trish Buller had two assists with singles going to Donna Smith, Tracey Maitland and Lori Swan. Ontario Concrete closed the gap to 3-2 with 1:40 remaining but Healy's second goal of the game spoiled the comeback effort. Kathy Berdux and Geri Miller each scored once and had an assist while Kristy Kernaghen added two assists.

Lafarge – 4 B&J Trucking – 1

Lafarge tripped up B&J Trucking 4-1 in a chippy contest. Shelli Ubriaco led the Lafarge charge with two goals and one assist while teammate Sarah Fischer scored once and added two assists. Patti Storozuk scored one goal and pick up player, Jean Feagan, pitched in with one assist. Michelle Toulouse scored B&J's lone goal with Deb Nolan getting the only assist. With B&J's regular goalie (Joy Agawa) out of the line up, forward Trish Irvine donned the goal pads and did an admirable job between the pipes.

Source for Sports – 9 White Oak Paint – 3

Source for Sports beat up on White Oak Paint 9-3 at the Rankin Arena Saturday night. All ten players on Source's bench earned a point in the game, including two goals by pick up player, Debbie Johnston and one goal from pick up player, Heather Coutu. Both Johnston and Coutu also added one assist each. Also contributing for Source were Carrie Mancuso (2 goals, 1 assist), Chantal Anderson (1 goal, 3 assists), Kellie Carter (1 goal, 2 assists), Julie Laforce (1 goal, 1 assist), Kim Chapman (1 goal), Elaine Derosario (3 assists), Lisa Venier (3 assists), and Andrea Moraca (1 assist). Answering back for White Oak Paint were Lisa Case, Jen Greco and Debbie Beauchamp. Single assists went to Greco, Beauchamp and Chris Elliott.

BDO Dunwoody – 6 Algoma Insurance – 0

Cat Schryer earned her third shut out of the season as BDO blanked Algoma Insurance 6-0. Jen Blahey scored twice and had one assist for the Dunwoody Bunch. Wendy Basawa picked up a hattrick and Amanda Fata had a goal and an assist. Pam Jurich added two assists with singles to Basawa, Pam Booth and Jessica Merlino.

Algoma Insurance – 6 Crawford's Canines – 2

Algoma Insurance rebounded on Sunday to pull off a 6-2 win over the Canines. With the game locked at 2-2 after the first period, Algoma's Nancy Houle took over, scoring three times to deflate Crawford's chances. Debbie "Digger" Desgagne had two goals for Algoma while Theresa Glover scored once and had one assist. Debbie Johnston had two assists with singles to Doreen Shaw, Tanya Thompson, Dawn Secord and Penny Glover. Robyn Bourck had a goal and one assist for the Canines. Cathy Toni scored her first of the year and Leslie Bois pitched in with one assist.

BDO Dunwoody – 6 Country Way – 1

BDO overpowered Country Way 6-1 on goals by Jen Blahey (2), Wendy Basawa (3) and Pam Booth. Michelle Irwin had two assists while Laurie Laudadio, Blahey, Booth and Basawa each picked up one assist. It was a harsh "welcome back" for Country Way's Francine "Flash" Floreani. Playing in her first game since breaking her ankle November 27th, "Flash" danced with her teammates against the league's first place team. Floreani was in fine form, scoring her team's only goal and in the process, ruining Cat Schryer's bid at a second straight shut out. Heidi Frech had the only assist on the goal.

Lafarge – 5 Skip's Kweok – 0

Lafarge was awarded a 5-0 win against Skip's Kweok who were unable to comply with the league's Pick Up Rule. Unfortunately, there weren't enough "Beginner" players left in the building to join Skip's bench for the game, making it impossible for them to legally add any other players to their roster. After declaring a default win to Lafarge, the teams went on to play an "unofficial game" (just for the workout). This writer makes it a practice not to report results from "unofficial games".

Source for Sports – 6 Ontario Concrete – 1

Ontario Concrete opened the scoring midway through the first and battled Source for Sports to a 1-1 deadlock for half the game, but the powerful Source picked it up a notch, scoring four times in the third on route to a 6-1 win. Carrie Mancuso was on fire with two goals and two assists. Lisa Venier scored twice and added one assist while pick up players, Sharon Templeton and Karen Gartshore each scored once and added a helper. Andrea Moraca had two helpers for The Source. Kathy Berdux had Ontario Concrete's lone goal with Geri Miller getting the assist.

Sports Gold – 4 B&J Trucking – 3

In the night's finale, Sports Gold squeaked out a 4-3 win over a relentless B&J Trucking squad. The Pink Jerseys held a one-goal lead twice in the first two periods only to have B&J fight back both times to even the score. With 4:28 remaining in the second frame, B&J jumped ahead 3-2, but the lead was short-lived as Sports Gold answered with just 15 seconds remaining in the period. Kathy Pinkse's second goal of the game snapped the 3-3 deadlock with 11:09 left to play. Sports Gold's defensive play shut down B&J's chances for the win. Katie Healy also had two goals for Sports Gold with Andrea Jarzombek and Lisa Pauloff each getting one assist. Joanne Pine had a goal and an assist for B&J while Kyla Sewell and Deb Nolan each scored once.
