Greyhounds double up Battalion

The Soo Greyhounds were able to grab two points before heading home from a three-game Ontario Hockey League road trip. On Sunday afternoon, the Greyhounds used two goals from Jacob King to pace themselves to a 4-2 win over the Brampton Battalion.

The Soo Greyhounds were able to grab two points before heading home from a three-game Ontario Hockey League road trip.

On Sunday afternoon, the Greyhounds used two goals from Jacob King to pace themselves to a 4-2 win over the Brampton Battalion.

After finishing the trip with a 1-2 record, the Hounds find themselves with a 22-27-3-3 record for 50 points. The team holds the eighth and final playoff position in the western conference by six points over the Erie Otters, who hold two games in hand.

The Greyhounds sit five points behind the Saginaw Spirit, who have played two fewer games, for seventh place, six points behind the Windsor Spitfires, who have one game in hand, for sixth and eight points behind the west division leading Plymouth Whalers for the conference's second seed.

In Brampton, Ryan Kitchen and Brandon MacLean, who also added an assist, scored one for the Greyhounds, who led by scores of 2-1 after one period and 3-2 after two.

Matt Smyth and Luke Lynes replied with goals for Brampton. Aaron Snow and Wojtek Wolski recorded two assists each.

Greyhound goaltender Kyle Gajewski stopped 36 of 38 shots for the win and first star honours while the Hounds fired 36 shots at the Battalion.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens to begin a six-game homestand against the Sudbury Wolves.
