Sault Ste. Marie's Brad Jacobs began play at the world men's curling championship in Victoria, B.C. Jacobs began the tournament on day one against China. Jacobs faced Finland and Scotland on Sunday.

The Soo Greyhounds continued their OHL playoff series with the Owen Sound Attack, They returned home for games three and four. Game five was in OWen Sound before the two teams returned to the Essar Centre for game six.

The Great North Midget League's Soo North Stars opened the Central Region Midget AAA Championships in Brockville over the weekend. They opened the tournament against the Upper Canada Cyclones and faced the Vaughan Kings on day two.

The Soo Thunderbirds opened the second round of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs against the Sudbury Nickel Barons. They hosted the Nickel Barons for game one before traveling to Sudbury for game two over the weekend.

Early in the week, the Thunderbirds learned that forward Darcy Casola had earned a league honour.

The Soo (Mich.) Eagles wrapped up the regular season in the NAHL over the weekend and now prepare for playoff time.
