North Stars fall to 1-1 in Brockville (Updated)

After opening the 2013 Central Region Midget AAA Championships on Saturday with a win, the Soo North Stars record dropped to 1-1 after a loss on Sunday. The North Stars dropped a 4-2 decision to the Vaughan Kings on Sunday morning.

The North Stars dropped a 4-2 decision to the Vaughan Kings on Sunday morning. Nick Trecroce and Ryan Vendramin scored for the North Stars in the loss. Jacob Kment got the start, stopping 10 of 13 shots before making way for brother Brian. Brian stopped 10 of 11 shots.

Domenic Camastra had a goal and two assists for Vaughan in the win. Daniel Volpe, Nicholas Ursitti and Alex DiCarlo also scored in the win. Goaltender Daniel LoPapa stopped 22 shots in the win.

In other action on Sunday, the Ottawa Jr. 67’s beat the London Jr. Knights 4-3 thanks to a 28-save performance from goaltender Simon Hofley. Jason Wilson had a goal and an assist in the win while Ryan Kuffner set up a pair of goals. London goaltender Riley Brown stopped 29 shots.

The final game of the day saw the Whitby Wildcats beat the Upper Canada Cyclones 6-2. Riley O’Connell had a pair of goals for Whitby. Chris Turner and Everett Clark added a goal and an assist each in the win. Luc Massie and Jared Henry scored for Upper Canada in the loss.

Monday’s schedule sees the North Stars face Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. Monday’s other games have Upper Canada facing London at 1:30 p.m. and Whitby facing Vaughan at 7:30 p.m.
