Northern Credit Union sets up relief fund to support those affected by the Elliot Lake Algo Centre roof collapse

Public encouraged to show community support through fund

ELLIOT LAKE, ON (June 26, 2012) - Northern Credit Union announced today it is setting up an Elliot Lake Relief Fund to help those affected by the collapse of the Algo Centre mall roof.

The public is encouraged to contribute to the fund, which will be used to help community relief efforts.

“This is a devastating event for everyone in the community of Elliot Lake and our thoughts are with them,” said Al Suraci, CEO of Northern Credit Union. “The mall is a major employer in Elliot Lake and many people and businesses will be affected for some time. It is at times like these that coming together in a cooperative effort can make an important difference.”

Northern Credit Union has contributed the first $5,000 to the Elliot Lake Relief Fund. 

Public contributions are welcome at any Northern Credit Union branch.
