Growing concerns about a structure that officials describe as more "unstable" continue to complicate rescue efforts at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake.
During a noon-hour briefing today, authorities said the escalator in the building has been "shifting."
Rescue crews were removed and those in charge are "reassessing the situation" for reentry into the structure.
Attention continues to focus on rescue efforts, though no timeframe has been established for possible contact with a person believed to still be alive.
Meanwhile, reports now indicate that up to 30 or more people in the Elliot Lake area may be unaccounted for.
Earlier reports had listed only nine missing people.
At this point, officials have confirmed one death following the collapse of a portion of the centre's roof.
No identification of the victim has been released.
