The lastest news reports from Elliot Lake indicate that at least one body has been recovered by search and rescue crews from the partially collapsed Algo Centre Mall.
Dan Hefkey, chief and assistant deputy minister at Emergency Management Ontario, told reporters this morning: "We have one at this point - we're back in there and we're going to continue to work in the area until we come to the conclusion there are no more individuals in there."
The identity of the victim has not been released although Hefkey stated the family had been notified.
Details are unclear as to how many others may have perished or remain trapped following the collapse this past Saturday, but reports indicate that an additional 12 residents are currently unaccounted for.
