Save lives now. Ask tough questions later: Tim Hudak on Elliot Lake

The following is a statement by Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak following new information of another casualty from the collapsed mall in Elliot Lake:

Earlier this morning we all learned that rescue workers had discovered and removed a lifeless body in the rubble of the Algo Centre Mall disaster in Elliott Lake.

Some of us were able to watch on TV, while hard hats were taken off as the remains passed by.

And our hearts sank.

All Ontarians, I know, are praying for the family and friends of the victim.

We can only hope, too, that he or she is the last.

We all have serious questions about how and why this could have happened and how the rescue effort has unfolded. 

We won’t apologize for asking the tough questions - but we will ask them at the appropriate time. 

For the time being, let’s focus on saving lives now - and ask questions later.
