ELLIOT LAKE – On June 27,2012 at 1:00 p.m. the Emergency Management Team of Elliot Lake released the following information at a scheduled Press Conference at the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre.
  • Two casualties were located and removed from the scene.
  • The Ministry of Labour remains on scene continuing the investigation.
  • The Toronto Heavy Urban Rescue Team is in the process of scaling down their operation.
  • The OPP will continue security at the site.
The City of Elliot Lake would like to inform the public that the Public Information Centre that has been operating out of the W.H. Collins Hall will remain open as follows:
 
June 28 - 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
June 29 - Transition made to local service agencies
 
For citizens that are in need of additional emotional support, there are a number of Social Service Agencies that can offer these services, and these include:
 
Algoma Family Services - 705-848-0790
 
Counselling Centre of East Algoma - 705-848-2582
 
East Algoma Mental Health Clinic - 705-848-9131
 
There is also a 24 hour line for Crisis Services at 1-800-721-0077.
