CROSS TOWN SHOWDOWN

The city's two Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men's basketball teams are set for a cross-town showdown tomorrow night.

JR. HOUNDS FINALLY LOSE

The streak was bound to end sooner or later. The Soo Jr. Greyhounds dropped their first game since a 4-3 loss in Sudbury back in the middle of October Tuesday night at Memorial Gardens. The defending champion Rayside Balfour Sabrecats handed the Jr.

The Soo Greyhounds are on a roll with three wins in a row, the latest triumph being a hard-fought 3-2 decision over the tough Sarnia Sting before 2,832 fans at Memorial Gardens on Sunday night.

The men's basketball team at Algoma University made school history on Saturday with a first-ever win in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play.

Ron Kelly stomped off the bench midway through the first half Friday night and ignited the Sault College Cougars to a 92-72 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men's basketball win over the previously unbeaten Fanshawe Falcons.

The 22nd annual Steel City Hockey Tournament will be played out from Thursday through Sunday of this week. Games will be played at both John Rhodes Community Centre rinks, Memorial Gardens, McMeeken Centre, Pee Wee Arena and Rankin Arena.
