The Sault Sabercats officially put an end to their 2006 Ontario Varsity Football League season with their annual awards banquet this week.

Kofi Osei, in his final year with the team, was named the team's most valuable player for his work in the offensive backfield and on special teams.

Quarterback John Mullin and receiver/quarterback Anthony Amadio shared the most valuable offensive player award.

Zach Clement was named the team's most valuable defensive player while Mike Wozny took home the team's most improved player award.

Graduating veterans Adam Elliott and Tyler King shared the coaches award, Tyler Brown was named the rookie of the year, Jordan Verdone captured the Sabercats award and Matt Ritchie was selected as the lineman of the year.

Gary Leith captured the players choice award as the most valuable player as chosen by his teammates.

The Sabercats finished the 2006 season with a 4-4 record and missed the playoffs by a single victory.
