PERFECT WEEK FOR WHITE PINES GIRLS

The White Pines Wolverines completed a perfect week in senior girls high school basketball on Thursday with a spine-tingling 34-32 win over the Korah Colts. White Pines is now 2-2 after losing its first two games of the season.

HOUNDS LACK SPIRIT IN LOSS

There was plenty of Spirit at Sault Memorial Gardens on Wednesday night but most of it came from Saginaw.

SAINTS STILL PERFECT

The St. Basil Saints are still in first place in the senior division of the girls high school basketball league following play on Tuesday. The Saints got 12 points from Katie Hamilton en route to a 56-37 win over the Bawating Braves.

SAINTS MARCHING INTO THE KNIGHT?

The regular season in the senior girls high school basketball league begins tonight. St. Basil and St. Mary's are expected to finish 1-2 but every spot after that would appear to be up for grabs.

KNIGHTS POWER PAST WHITE PINES

The St. Mary's Knights' high-powered offence cut a dominating path in a 34-18 high school football senior division win over the White Pines Wolverines Saturday afternoon at Rocky DiPietro Field.

HOUNDS LOSE TO OTTAWA

A five-goal second period chased starting goalie Joey Biasucci from the nets and lifted the Ottawa 67s to a 6-3 win over the Soo Greyhounds in an Ontario Hockey League game at Memorial Gardens on Sunday.

Even a little fog couldn't hold the Soo Greyhounds from going on the Attack.

HOUNDS GO ON THE ATTACK TONIGHT

It's for real time for the Soo Greyhounds tonight. The Hounds are home to the Owen Sound Attack in a 7:30 p.m. start at Memorial Gardens as their Ontario Hockey League regular season gets underway.

OPENING WEEKEND FOR HOUNDS

Soo Greyhounds have shown they can win the exhibition games, going 4-0 in the pre-season. But the games that really count begin this weekend with the start of the Ontario Hockey League regular season.

LOCAL KIDS AT HOUNDS' CAMP

A definite local touch will be evident when the Soo Greyhounds open their 2002 Ontario Hockey League training camp on Aug. 26. A number of local products will be among the 36 players who'll be a part of the Hound camp.
