The Root of it All

Jokes. Who doesn’t like a good joke? But just what exactly makes a good joke? Everyone has different tastes in humour. Some people like witty, clever humour, while others prefer slapstick, and still others like their humour a bit “edgy.

Lost in all the discussion about “global warming” (more appropriately known as “climate change”) and “carbon footprints” is a practical discussion of conservation and reduction practices for the average household.

Well, I'm done! At least, I'm done the in-class portion of Teacher's College. Now I have 5 weeks of practice teaching waiting for me after the March break, and then I'm completely done! Except for the job hunt.

Well, the end is near for me, at least in terms of attending classes at Teacher’s College. I have a few more assignments to complete and submit, and a couple of exams to write, and I’m done.

Once upon a time, that was how a person might begin to express their disagreement with another’s point of view. Not so anymore.

Well, it seems that the Sault got really hammered this week. Glad I missed it. Then again, it was -4°C here Tuesday morning, before the temperature dropped 20° and everything that was wet or slushy turned to solid ice.

I know that I am! At this time of year many people talk about having “the winter blues,” or “the blahs.

Well, I’m back in Thunder Bay, and getting back into the routine of attending classes. After 5 weeks teaching and a 3 week break over Christmas, it is taking a bit to get motivated again. The first week back was somewhat light, in terms of workload.

I read Christina Blizzard’s column on Saturday, where she talked about the snow falling and the flakes littering the road – the flakes being those drivers who fail, for whatever reason, to adjust their driving to winter conditions.

Another year is winding to a close, and a new year is upon us.
