A whole lotta people that make the Sault proud

The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce handed out their annual business excellence awards on Wednesday night at the Delta Hotel.

The Paul Dalseg Community Achievement Award is presented annually to recognize a businessperson who has demonstrated exemplary interest in the community and, in doing so, has made a major, outstanding and unique achievement or contribution to the life of the community.

Past winners of the award include John Rowswell (2010), Dr. Celia Ross (2004) and Russ Ramsay (2000).

The 2011 winner of the award is Bill Durnford, associate director, advancement and alumni relations for Sault College.

With the College currently adding to the campus on Northern Avenue, Durnford plays a role in helping the post-secondary institution through the process.

SAULT STE. MARIE – On Wednesday, October 19, local business representatives gathered at the 122nd Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting and Business Awards Dinner, sponsored by Bell, to celebrate business excellence and the entrepreneurial spirit.

The business awards portion of the event put the spotlight on 14 local Chamber-member entrepreneurs, businesses and community leaders and features a dynamic video awards component.
