Under its new management, Northern Ontario security firm Norpro Security Ltd. is expanding its services to address a significant gap and need in the Health and Safety field.

The new Health & Safety division offers programs and packages created by specialists with years of experience in the field. From risk and exposure assessments, quantitative respirator fit testing, on-site training, and internal auditing services to packages including confined space training, selection use and care respirators, supervisor due diligence, incident investigations, and federal workplace committees.

"The added value of having Safety and Hygiene Specialists on staff is that we have access to a wealth of knowledge and assistance to ensure our people are set up for success," says Steve Tarchuk, CEO of Norpro.

Knowing that each company has individual needs, Jessica Amadio, industrial hygiene specialist for Norpro, explains that the Program Development Services can be customized to meet an organization's unique health and safety requirements.

"We can review your current programming to identify gaps and areas for improvement, or we could develop your programs for you based on input provided by our team," adds Shannan Boston, Norpro’s health & safety specialist.

This review and development service could range from a complete health and safety program to more specific topics such as, but not limited to, Respiratory Protection, Thermal Stress Management, Hearing Conservation, Radiation Protection, Designated Substance Control, Confined Spaces, and Contractor Management.

New management committed to providing high-quality service

The new health and safety division isn't the only company change. In August 2023, Norpro Security was purchased from N1 Solutions and is now operating as Norpro Security Ltd., under the leadership of CEO Steve Tarchuk and the management team consisting of Mike Steinburg, Manager of Operations; Jordan Gregorini, Senior Account Manager; and Lisa Culligan, Human Resources Manager.

"Our goal is to offer the best quality service possible and to become the industry leader in security and health and safety services in Northern Ontario, all while being a trusted partner within the communities we serve," says Tarchuk.

With this goal in mind, Mike Steinburg has prioritized excellence in guard competency, training, and retention.

“We have implemented training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of our security guards. By investing in the growth and development of our guards, we are not only ensuring the safety and security of our clients but also creating a work environment that fosters professionalism and dedication,"says Steinburg, adding that Norpro’s commitment to excellence has also prompted the company to hire a quality control lead to work one-on-one with both the industrial security guards and mine sites.
