Here's what they said about Tony Porco at Wednesday's award presentation:

******************* Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Tony earned his Mechanical Technologist degree from Sault College.

It was at the same time, during his apprenticeship, that he started his first business venture opening up Seasons Collectibles in the Station Mall in Sault Ste. Marie.

Tony was working for St. Mary’s Paper when he was laid off during the shutdown in 1992.

It was during this time that he recognized an opportunity and, together with three other laid off employees, started Superior Industrial Services.

During the infancy of SIS, Tony ventured out in 1999 and worked with a Toronto-based company, Royal Laser.

It was during this time he gained the experience in manufacturing.

In 2003, Tony bought out his partners and took full ownership of the company and amalgamated Hydraulic Solution.

In 2009, he acquired JC Hydraulics and started SIS Manufacturing, forming the four companies into the SIS Group, which now employs over 200 employees.

As president of the SIS Group, Tony has built an organization that consistently delivers results by aligning innovative ideas with a foundation built on hard work.

For ongoing commitment to Sault Ste. Marie and for significant economic contribution to our community, we are pleased to present Tony Porco with the Skipper Manzzutti Award for Business Achievement!

Congratulations!
