Sault Ste. Marie’s post-secondary institutions were honoured on Wednesday as Sault College President, Dr. Ron Common and Algoma University President, Dr. Richard Myers were presented with the President’s Award, sponsored by the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Common was unable to attend Wednesday’s ceremony. The award was accepted on his behalf by Joe Chilleli (at left in picture).

Here's what they said about Dr. Common and Dr. Myers at Wednesday's award presentation:

******************* The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce would like to jointly present both Dr. Ron Common, president of Sault College and Dr. Richard Myers, president of Algoma University with this year’s Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce President’s Award.

Sault Ste. Marie is experiencing a significant transition within the local post-secondary education sector.

One has only to pass by either of these two institutions to notice this.

From new buildings and physical infrastructure, to new and exciting programming and learning options for students, both Sault College and Algoma University have been re-invigorated in recent years.

All of these changes add up to investments that make both Sault College and Algoma University attractive options, not only for local students and youth, but for potential students from around the province, around the country, and around the world!

These exciting changes at both institutions will yield benefits not just for the College and University, but also for our community.

This year’s President’s Award acknowledges the efforts of the presidents of both institutions, not only in the implementation of these many changes, but for recognizing and guiding these changes in a way that betters our community.
