The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has this morning identified the deceased in yesterday's double homicide as Melody Burtis, 40, and her son Harley Baxter-Burtis, 8, both of Sault Ste. Marie.
The four-plex in which Melody Burtis resided at 113 Salisbury (shown as photographed yesterday by SooToday.com's Carol Martin) was the subject of considerable police scrutiny yesterday, with the entire building secured by yellow police tape.
Phone records also show Burtis living at 177 Wellington East in recent months.

The following is the full text of a statement released by City Police this morning:
********************* Officers from Investigation Services and Forensic Services are continuing to work on the double homicide that was discovered early yesterday morning.
33-year-old Albert Francis Ouimet of no fixed address will appear in bail court this morning at 10 a.m.
He has been charged with two counts of murder, one count of impaired driving and one count of breach of probation.
Next of kin was notified late yesterday.
The victims of yesterday's homicide have been identified as 40-year old Melody Burtis and her 8-year-old son Harley Baxter-Burtis, both of Sault Ste. Marie.
