************************* Yesterday, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a complaint from an adult female who was complaining that an ex-partner was communicating with and potentially harassing her contrary to court-ordered conditions.

Police believe that the suspect in this domestic-related complaint is the person responsible for the shooting at Korah Road.

This person is also the same person who is deceased in the motor vehicle collision that accorded a short time later on Queen Street West. Shortly after the complaint was made by the female, a 35-year-old resident of Sault Ste. Marie attended the residence of the complainant in the 400 block of Korah Road.

The ex-boyfriend was armed with a shotgun.

He unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry to residence and fired one round from a shotgun into the back door of the residence.

It is believed he was firing at a 38-year-old male party who was in the residence at the time but missed on the first shot.

The victim and the deceased became embroiled in a struggle outside the residence for the shotgun that continued onto the front lawn of the residence.

During this struggle, the male party was shot in the right leg above the knee by the ex-boyfriend.

The ex-boyfriend immediately fled the scene of the shooting in his pickup truck.

The shotgun was left behind on the sidewalk next to the shooting victim.

As well, an assortment of shotgun shells were located at the rear door of the residence. About eight minutes after the call for the shooting, police received a call for a serious motor vehicle accident in front of Studio 10 on Queen Street West.

Police determined that the ex-boyfriend had driven his pickup truck at a very high rate of speed into the west corner of Studio 10.

Civilians assisted in removing the ex-boyfriend from his vehicle.

There are unconfirmed reports that the deceased was conscious and speaking at that time and asked for help.

He was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The exact cause of death of the deceased will be determined during a post mortem that is to take place in the next couple of days. Police are not releasing the identities of any of the persons involved in the matter as police believe that this is a domestic-related occurrence.
