Barrie Police report incident with Sault kidnapping suspect (update)

11:44 a.m. update:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police service says kidnapping suspect Caleb Seaton "passed away unexpectedly in Barrie on Sunday.

Reports of Seaton, 28, being involved in a shootout with police are not accurate, say police.

SooToday has received word Barrie Police received a ‘call for service’ Sunday regarding one of two men wanted after a kidnapping and shooting in the Sault.

As reported earlier Caleb Seaton, 28, and Tyler McMillan, 32, were at large, wanted by police and considered armed and dangerous following a Nov. 8 kidnapping and assault with a weapon, involving a firearm, in Sault Ste. Marie.

“We did deal with an incident involving (Caleb Seaton),” said Peter Leon, Barrie Police corporate communications coordinator.

Leon referred further questions to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Sault Police have informed SooToday there will be an update on this situation later.
