Caleb Seaton 'passed away unexpectedly' in Barrie, police say

No shootout with police, says Sault Police spokesperson

The Sault Ste. Marie Police service says kidnapping suspect Caleb Seaton "passed away unexpectedly in Barrie on Sunday.

Reports of Seaton, 28, being involved in a shootout with police are not accurate, say police.

SooToday previously reported that Barrie Police recieved a call for service regarding wanted kidnapping suspect Caleb Seaton.

On Sunday, there was a heavy police presence at Barrie Motel, located at Anne Street and Highway 400. Local police officials have confirmed to BarrieToday it was linked to the Seaton investigation. 

The following news release was issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service:

On Nov. 17, 2019, 28-year-old Caleb Seaton passed away unexpectedly in Barrie, Ont.

The investigation into the kidnapping and assault with a weapon, involving a firearm is still ongoing. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is actively looking for 32-year-old Tyler McMillan in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 705-949-6300.

If you see Mr. McMillan, do not approach him, call 911 immediately.
