Jessica Owen

Jessica Owen brings nine years of experience to her role as regional reporter for Village Media, primarily covering county matters, court, Collingwood and Barrie matters.
With a degree in film studies from Brock University, a post-graduate diploma in Advanced Television and Film Production from Sheridan College and a Journalism-Print diploma from Niagara College, Owen brings a multimedia approach to the table.
She has made newsroom stops at the Voice of Pelham, the Niagara Falls Review and the Brockville Recorder & Times fulfilling multiple roles including reporter, editor, photographer and designer, settling in Simcoe County as multimedia editor of the Barrie Examiner in August 2014.
She quickly moved up to assistant regional editor two years later to oversee the five community newspapers Postmedia owned in the region, including the Orillia Packet & Times, The Enterprise-Bulletin, the Innisfil Examiner and the Bradford Times until their closure in November of 2017.
Owen started freelancing for Village Media in February 2018, coming on full time in May of the same year.
