Sault racer leading today's I-500 race

The Canadian Sault's Ted Ritchie is enjoying a good day so far at the International 500 Snowmobile Race in the Michigan Soo. Riding a Ski-Doo, the veteran racer was in first place after more than 100 laps had been completed by 12:25 today.

The Atlantic Seaboard is being hammered today by a major snowstorm. Up to 45 centimetres of snow have fallen on areas near St. John's Newfoundland, where wind gusts approaching 90 kilometres an hour are reported.
