The Canadian Sault's Ted Ritchie is enjoying a good day so far at the International 500 Snowmobile Race in the Michigan Soo. Riding a Ski-Doo, the veteran racer was in first place after more than 100 laps had been completed by 12:25 today.

The Atlantic Seaboard is being hammered today by a major snowstorm. Up to 45 centimetres of snow have fallen on areas near St. John's Newfoundland, where wind gusts approaching 90 kilometres an hour are reported.

The 47th annual Bon Soo Winter Carnival kicked off with a bang last night at Bellevue Park with live entertainment, fireworks, free hot chocolate, and hordes and hordes of winter fun enthusiasts. And of course, Mr. Bon Soo.

The Soo Greyhounds continued their road prowess on Friday night with an 8-5 win over the Sudbury Wolves. Carson Dubchak recorded a hat trick for the Hounds while Brett Thompson notched a pair. Further details will be posted on the Sports page.
