Grace Tridico, who was convicted one week ago of committing a corrupt election practice, will keep her seat on the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board.

At least, as long as her appeal is pending.

Director of Education John Stadnyk told reporters that after a meeting of school trustees tonight.

At the same meeting, trustee Tridico declined to comment on the issue, asking media to refer their questions to her legal counsel.

"I remain committed to fulfilling my obligations as an elected trustee," she said in a statement published earlier by SooToday.com.

Tridico is appealing last week's decision by Justice of the Peace Kathleen Bryant that she had provided false information to a municipal elections staffer and was party to an offence of voting in a place other than where the voter was supposed to vote.

Tridico's lawyer, Augusto Palumbi, believes Bryant's decision contains errors in law.
