Bev Prouse of Greenwood Public School's environmental club had some happy news to report to SooToday.com this afternoon, regarding our coverage from last week about the thoughtless destruction of a flowering crab tree planted by students.
She submitted this photo, showing Nick and Tony from Soo Yard Works with members of the environmental club and the school's new tree.
**************************** The members of the Environmental Club at Greenwood Public school are extremely grateful for the overwhelming response to the vandalism that occurred at their school last weekend.
Individuals and businesses from throughout the city have shown their support and concern by donating trees, plants and shrubs to continue our environmental focus.
Although the children will not soon forget the destructive act against our first tree, they will always remember the wonderful generosity and kindness of the people of Sault Ste. Marie.
In a time of sadness and disappointment for those who were hurt by this senseless act, citizens have gone above and beyond to keep the green in Greenwood!
