Sephora coming to Station Mall? New job postings say yes

Sephora is advertising for careers in the Station Mall, suggesting the popular cosmetics retailer will be opening a store in Sault Ste. Marie in the near future.

The postings for "store director" and "talent and business operations" roles were posted to the job site Indeed on Tuesday by the company, identifying Station Mall as the location for the store.

Currently, the closest Sephora locations to Sault Ste. Marie are in the New Sudbury Centre mall and at Kohl's store-within-a-store in Gaylord, Michigan.

Sephora's potential arrival would be massive news for the downtown mall, which is currently owned by SM International Holdings Ltd., a Markham-based company that purchased the property for $30 million in July 2022 from Algoma Central Corporation.

Last summer, the new owners announced a bold $60-million renovation plan that would include a 50,000 square-foot entertainment complex, a dining sports bar and restaurant, several retail brands — and up to 12 condominium towers. 

Very little of that work has actually begun.

Reached on Tuesday by SooToday, a spokesperson for the mall's hospitality advisor, The StratonHunter Group, offered a no comment on the Sephora job postings.

Sephora is owned by luxury goods group LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton and operates approximately 1,900 stores in 29 countries worldwide, including over 360 stores across North America.
