VIDEO: Station Mall partner unveils new details about $60M facelift

Upwards of 15 retailers are anticipated to move into the mall’s developing two-storey space next year, including stores like Forever 21 and Urban Planet

A managing partner of Station Mall’s hospitality advisors’ group has provided more details about the mall’s $60 million redevelopment plan, announced earlier today.

In an interview with SooToday, Robert Carter of StratonHunter Group noted that between 10 and 15 retailers are expected to move into the former Sears location.

Retailers like Forever 21 and Urban Planet are believed to be among the names, according to Carter.

“It’s going to be globally recognized fashion brands, which will be very exciting to the population of northern Ontario,” he says. “From a food standpoint, we’re looking at creating an ‘eatertainment’ style hall that will have a culinary spin as well as interactive gaming activities.”

“There will be lifestyle activities such as a gym-type facility as well. They’ve all had Sault Ste. Marie as a high target on their development list, so it will be brand names that the community is familiar with.”

Carter is confident the development of Station Mall heading into 2024 is going to mirror the developments seen in other malls across the continent and will encourage people to come and socialize in a community-style environment.
