The second male driver allegedly involved in the street racing incident yesterday morning was charged late yesterday afternoon.

Matthew English, age 19, of 337 Parkland Avenue has been charged with one count of racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.

He is to appear in traffic court on the 9th of September.

At this time, City Police are asking for the public’s assistance in their investigation into this incident: anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the collision involving the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s cruiser and the 1998 Chevrolet Malibu on the 12th of August around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Allen’s Side Road and Second Line West.

Police are also looking for any witnesses to the street racing incident on Goulais Avenue just prior to the collision.

Police are looking to speak with the drivers of a black Kia and a red vehicle that had pull to the shoulder area to avoid from being struck at the time the police cruiser was attempting to pull the involved vehicles over.
