Earlier today, we told you that Josh Ingram will be stepping down as executive director of the Downtown Association, effective Dec. 19.

Tonight, we're able to tell you why.

SooToday has learned that Ingram will now be taking over as community outreach manager at Northern Credit Union.

There, he'll be involved in the 62-year-old financial institution's philanthropic efforts Ontario-wide.

Northern Credit Union employees were advised tonight of his hiring through internal communication channels.

For the past three years, the Sault-based co-operative has been named one of Canada's best workplaces in the financial services and insurance sector by Best Workplaces in Canada.

Established in 1957, Northern Credit Union holds $1.5 billion in assets under administration for more than 73,000 member shareholders.

Northern serves more than 30 communities across the province with an emphasis on educating its members in financial literacy.

"Becoming a Northern employee isn’t easy," says the corporate website.

"To earn your True North Strong badge, you have to believe in our credit union and embrace our vision and core values. It means being personally invested in the financial health and wellbeing of your members, and having the knowledge to recommend products and services with real benefit to their lives."
