The Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Association announces the departure of executive director Josh Ingram, who has announced his intention to step down from his role, effective Dec. 19, 2019.

The board of directors will be beginning a public search to replace Ingram, with intentions to fill the role in the new year.

Ingram joined the SSM DTA in June of 2016, and has played a critical role in solidifying the operation and the strategic direction of the organization. Ingram’s leadership has been instrumental in key Business Improvement Initiatives such as ‘creatEmpower’ 2019-2020 strategic plan, the increase of event attendance at a myriad of events such as street parties and Moonlight Magic, helmed the inaugural ‘Poutine Feast’, aided in bringing digital competency grants and training in the form of CampTech and Digital Main Street to Algoma, collaborated on the first annual ‘Community Art Project’ which saw the installation of five large scale murals downtown, and partnered to bring consultants Roger Brooks to our community. Under his time the association has won three Chamber of Commerce Awards as well as an Ontario Business Improvement Area Assoc. award for Marketing and Communications.

“Josh has been a great asset to our organization and he will be missed,” board chair Kristi Cistaro commented while relaying the information of Josh’s departure onto the board earlier this month.

“I will forever remember my time here,” said Josh. “I have worked for the small businesses and the community in an effort to make downtown a place where people want to be and want to invest. I want to thank the Downtown Association for the time and experience it has given me. I do plan to continue to be an active part of our community and patron these amazing local businesses, and I look forward to seeing big accomplishments from the DTA as a community member.”
