Here's what they said about The Voyageur's Lodge and Cookhouse and the O'Connors at last night's award ceremony.

************************* In 2002, Frank and Gail bought the Blue Water motel and Shoreline motel in Batchewana Bay.

They had a vision to create a historically relevant destination resort that showcased the history of Lake Superior and celebrated particularly the period of fur trade and life times of the voyeurs.

Located on the Trans-Canada highway, adjacent to the beautiful shore of Lake Superior, stopping in at the Lodge and Cookhouse is a memorable experience.

Visitors are greeted by friendly staff and have an opportunity to taste some of the best cooking to be found, and stay overnight in a unique and comfortable setting

Gail and Frank recognize the importance of good staff and go to great lengths to make sure their employees are well trained, well paid and provided with a positive atmosphere in which to work.

And this is reflected in the dedication and effort they give to treating all of their customers in a first class manner.

No visit is complete without a paddle in the authentic Voyageur canoe, one of the truly endearing features at stopping in at the Lodge and Cookhouse.

Many a photo has been taken of this unique experience that helps raise the profile of this entire area

Their untiring efforts have made the Voyageur Lodge and Cookhouse a “must see” stop along one of the most beautiful drives in our country
