NEWS RELEASE

************************* 25-year-old Shasta McCauley of 40-724 Great Northern Road was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of arson by negligence and one count of breach of a court order.

It is alleged that in the early morning hours of May 29 Fire Services responded to a residence on Chambers Avenue for a house fire.

The fire was extinguished but a large amount of butane containers were present in the residence.

Officers from Investigation Services and the Fire Inspectors Section of the Fire Services worked jointly on the investigation.

It is alleged that the accused had in her possession a cannabis resin extracting device which utilized butane.

It is alleged that this device leaked the butane, which contributed to the spread of a fire that caused damage to a home.

No one was hurt in the fire and there was significant damage.

It is further alleged that the accused failed to notify her change of address which was a term of release on a court order.

The accused will appear in court on January 8. ************************ Related SooToday.com coverage
