********************** Fire on Chambers Avenue - charges laid In the early morning hours of Monday the 29th of May 2006 Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Chambers Avenue.

Once extinguished investigators from the office of the Ontario Fire Marshall and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service undertook a criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Resulting from this investigation the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has charged a female person Shasta Lynne McCauley, 24, of 284 Chambers Avenue here in Sault Ste. Marie with the following offences contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

i) unlawful possession of a substance (prescription and non prescription drugs) contrary to section 4(1) of the Act (6 counts)

ii) production of a substance (cannabis resin) contrary to section 7(1) of the Act (1 count)

Both the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Office of the Fire Marshall are continuing their investigation into this incident.
