The following power outages, caused by fallen trees, are reported today by Sault Ste. Marie PUC. A SooToday.com reader advised that a large tree has fallen at Pim and Wellington, and another on Queen, just west of Elgin.

************************** This is a description of unplanned power interruptions that are currently affecting PUC Distribution customers in Sault Ste. Marie.

Interruption Date: May 16, 2009

Start: 13:04 Restored at: 17:11 # of Customers: 224

Cause

Tree contacts - tree across lines.

PUC staff are currently investigating the cause of the interruption and will take corrective action by making repairs or switching around the problem as soon as possible.

Description of area involved

Boundary east to Chambers; Trunk south to Bennett, Shannon; Trunk to Bennett, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Oregon, Texas and State.

Affected areas restored except north side of Chambers from Boundary to Gibb.
