Two new COVID cases reported by APH

Both individuals are currently self-isolating

Algoma Public Health is reporting two new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

Of the new cases, one is in the Sault Ste. Marie area while the other is from central and east Algoma.

Case No. 137 was tested on Jan. 12 and is under the unknown exposure category.

Case No. 138, tested on Jan. 13, was infected through close contact, meaning the individual was in close contact with a known confirmed case.

Unknown exposure means the person did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Both individuals are currently self-isolating.

There are currently 33 active cases in the Algoma region.

The number of active cases in the region is down from Thursday, following APH's report of eight new cases in the region.

Following Thursday's update, APH was reporting 43 active cases in Algoma.
