City cancels all gatherings that could attract more than 250 people

The City of Sault Ste. Marie has announced, via Facebook, that all gatherings with the potential of attracting 250 or more people are cancelled.

The city says it made the decision in response to directions from Algoma Public Health and guidance from provincial and federal officials.

The following is the full notice issued by the City of Sault Ste. Marie:

Under the direction of Algoma Public Health with guidance from provincial and federal officials, the City will suspend any large events and public gatherings that have the potential of drawing in excess of 250 people.

As such, the City will proceed with cancelling the Tim Horton’s free swimming that was scheduled for Monday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 18 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

Staff will continue to monitor the situation and will advise the public of any additional cancellations as required. The City thanks its citizens for their understanding and cooperation during this time.
