Charges laid against three following New Year’s Eve party in Garden River

Charges have been laid against three people as result of a New Year's Eve party in Garden River.

In a press release issued today, the Anishnabek Police Service say they were informed on Jan. 4 of a New Year's Eve party in contravention of provincial guidelines that occurred at a residence in Garden River First Nation.

An investigation into the party took place in collaboration with Algoma Public Health (APH), resulting in charges pursuant to the Reopening of Ontario Act.

Patricia Kelly Solomon, Justin Ralph Romano, and a young person have been charged with:

  • Host a gathering at a residential premises exceeding the number of persons permitted contrary to Sec. 10.1(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020.

On Jan. 4, APH issued an advisory warning the public of exposure to COVID-19 at a New Year's Eve party at 66 Sage St. in Garden River, asking anyone who attended to stay home and self-isolate.
