62 new COVID-19 cases, two more deaths reported in Chippewa County

Over the weekend, Chippewa County Health Department (CCHD) reported a surge in COVID-19 cases, as well as two new deaths attributed to the virus.

Between Nov. 21 and 24, CCHD has confirmed 62 new cases, and 102 new probable cases.

The health unit says there are nine new hospitalizations and 209 cases being actively monitored.

The total number of cases confirmed in Chippewa County since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic is 310, with 426 probable cases, 142 recovered and four total deaths.

This comes on the tail of hundreds of cases being reported in Kincheloe, Mich. prisons last week. SooToday's James Hopkin reported on Friday 776 prisoners and 40 corrections staff tested positive for the virus.
