Police confirm that the 'human remains' consisted of a fake hand. More on today's fake hand incident.

Officers conducting search on Whitefish Island

Just after 12:30 p.m. officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call for service regarding found human remains on the South side of Whitefish Island. 

At this time, officers with the Criminal Investigations Division and Emergency Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will be working with officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and Batchewana First Nation Police Service to conduct a search of the area.
