Sault Ste. Marie police have charged three men with first-degree murder — one year after a victim was found beaten and bound in a residence on Second Line West.

Police say the 53-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, went to the address on Jan. 28, 2022 and “an altercation took place.”

“The victim sustained multiple lacerations as well as injuries to their head,” says a police news release issued this morning. “The victim was bound and left in the residence.”

Police were called to the scene early the next morning.

One year later, investigators have charged three suspects with first-degree murder.

Brandon Wyatt, 28, was arrested Monday at the Thunder Bay jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges. Wyatt had been facing a number of firearms and weapons charges after he allegedly pointed and fired a sawed-off rifle at a victim at a residence in the 0-100 block of Pentagon Boulevard in June of last year. The victim was not injured in the incident.

Glen Pelchat, 38, was arrested yesterday during a traffic stop near Korah Rd. and Raymond St.

William Ross, 44, was arrested yesterday at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, where he was in custody on unrelated charges. Ross was previously charged with weapon and drug offences in June 2022 after police seized drugs, a sawed-off shotgun and a number of stolen bank cards and pieces of personal identification.
