Update to Savoy’s Jewellers robbery

On the 17th of January, Investigation Services officers continuing the investigation into this robbery laid additional charges on the accused Micheal Burgess. 

The accused remains in custody and is now facing the following charges:

  • One count of attempt robbery with intent
  • One count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose to the public
  • One count of use of a firearm or imitation during the commission of an offense
  • Three counts of breach of probation
  • One count of breach of a recognizance order  
  • One count of possession of a controlled drug or substance
At the time of the incident the accused was under the influence of alcohol and was on recognizance and probation orders with conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol, and further probation conditions not to possess any weapons, to keep the peace and be good. 

The accused is scheduled for a video remand hearing on Tuesday, the 24th of February.
