Mr. Bon Soo deserves a coffee break, too (6 photos)

The famous Sault mascot and his festival are the subjects of this week's Mid-Week Mugging

While checking out activities at the 56th Bon Soo Winter Carnival over the weekend we presented complimentary SooToday mugs to Mr. Bon Soo and Rob Woolley, one of his loyal support team members.

The Outdoor Hay Maze, Bum Slides and Snowmadness Snow Sculptures are among annual favourite activities children and adults are enjoying daily at this year’s carnival outside at The Machine Shop at 83 Huron St.

Over the years, Saultites have also enjoyed the annual Bon Soo Polar Bear Swim, live entertainment, fireworks, a fire-breathing dragon at last year’s opening ceremonies, and, at one time, the Miss Bon Soo pageant before that component of the festival was discontinued.

Major upcoming Bon Soo events include the Sault Blues Society/Amanda Fish Band concert from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at The Machine Shop, the OLG Polar Bear Swim, to be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at Bellevue Park and the Bon Soo Family Dance from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at The Machine Shop.

This year'scarnival continues to Feb. 10.
