VIDEO: A café with a cause for cats in Sault Ont.

Customers can now indulge in a tasty pastry while enjoying the company of  some furry friends

SAULT STE. MARIE ONT. - Bakers first and foremost, The Thyne Family in Sault Ste. Marie Ont. has started a new initiative centred around the adoption of cats in need of new homes.

The Cat-urday Cafe is something that has been on owner DJ's mind since the 90s and recently those ideas have come to fruition.

When first entering the Gore Street location customers will see all the usual items they've come to love from the bakery; however, behind the counter is a set of double doors that lead in to the new Cafe space.

Hanging on the wall are pictures of the new residents - cats in need of loving homes.

The animals themselves are everywhere. Literally. The room is a feline's fantasy complete with hidey-holes, a myriad of cat toys,  and a sky bridge hanging overhead. A gumball machine filled with cat treats has them literally coming out of the walls to compete with cuteness for morsels of chicken flavoured kibbles.

All the critters are ready for adoption and proceeds from the cafe space are donated to TAAG, a local animal shelter which works to find loving homes for animals in need.

Along with the cafe, there is also a private party room available for booking. More information about the space can be found here
