SooToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to voters. Meet Ward 5 candidate Frank Fata:

I'm Frank Fata and I am very proud to be seeking re-election for Ward 5. I am married to my wife Pina (Lento), for 32 years and have 2 grown children, both living in SSM.I have a vested interest in the future of this great City !! I will continue to serve the fine residents of Ward 5, as a FULL TIME councillor. I have a track record for voting conservatively, keeping our tax dollars in check. There's a great deal to do this upcoming term and we need experience on council. I have a simple way of looking at things; people call, they want a response and they want a solution. And with me as a full time councillor, you will continue to get exactly what you deserve. A prompt response!!!

We have a number of issues that we are dealing with now and going forward. Property taxes, speed on our roads, ditching and road conditions, neighbour issues, red tape at City Hall, increasing the tax base, especially industrial and commercial. We must be able to attract new investments and the EDC and Innovation Centre will play a huge part. As a councillor, it is my job to continue to work with these entities to spur growth. We don't need rubber stampers on council. We need independent thinkers who have worked well with their colleagues on Council. But I would also continue to value your opinion. That's important to me. I would like to continue to serve you, with your support, on Monday, Oct. 22. Thank you.
