Meet Ward 2 candidate Lou Turco

He is committed to providing experienced and honest representation

SooToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to voters. Meet Ward 2 candidate Lou Turco:

Lou Turco has had the privilege of serving the residents of Sault Ste Marie since 2000 and is currently the Ward 4 Councillor.

Lou lives in the new Ward 2 with his wife, Sandra, a Huron Superior Catholic District School Board Trustee. Lou was born in Calabria, Italy, the son of the late Joe and Teresa Turco. He is the son-in-law of Irish immigrants, Dennis, a retired steelworker, and Teresa Murphy. He is the father of two grown children Teri Lou and Ricky and nonno to Marco. Lou is a radio broadcaster by trade and hosts the popular Weekend Club on Oldies 93 fm. Beside being a supporter of our local Soo Greyhounds,  Lou cheers for a winning combination the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees.

Lou has served on many boards and committees including being recently re-elected to AMO (Association of Municipalities of Ontario). He and his wife, Sandra, are lifelong volunteers in the community.

As the Ward Councillor, Lou is committed to providing experienced and honest representation, provide City services and keep taxes affordable, enhance the quality of life in Sault Ste Marie, support the creation of new jobs, less red tape, promote Sault Ste Marie positively and continue to represent all Ward residents including Seniors and our youth.

Lou strongly believes in honouring Sault Ste Marie’s past, been rooted in our present and looking forward to the future of Sault Ste Marie.
