Meditation training is shown to benefit the mind and the heart

Tiffany Caicco, owner of the The Soul Compass in Sault Ste. Marie believes meditation training has both physical and emotional benefits. Tiffany has 12 years of experience teaching meditation and yoga. She has even taught Yin Yoga at a Wanderlust Festival in Aspen in 2014. Tiffany is now launching a 200-hour meditation and movement teacher training certification program for others who want to learn more about the practice.

Tiffany, a Registered Psychotherapist and Art Therapist, believes that meditation is transformative. She says, “Aside from the physiological perks of meditation, this practice is most appealing due to its benefits and practical applications for nurturing both the mind and the heart.”

Tiffany has first-hand experience with the benefits of meditation. In the early 2000s, after suffering a serious leg injury she refused to take pain medication and opted instead for a regular meditation practice. “I wanted to change my relationship with pain without having to take any pills.” She says, “Meditation was something I was familiar with, but I hadn’t adopted a regular practice until then. Meditating and practicing Yin Yoga daily completely transformed my life.”

Twenty years later, Tiffany continues to weave these and other contemplative practices into her personal and professional life. Tiffany believes that training is the next natural step for her. With her background in psychology, she intends to lead with the art and science of holistic wellness.

This development didn’t happen overnight. In 2017, she launched a Yoga Alliance 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training called Mind, Body, Soul: Mental Health and Psychology. She has now changed the focus from yoga training to a curriculum with a meditation focus. Tiffany says, “I’ve come to the realization that meditation has a long shelf life for most people. Gentle yoga is wonderful, however, doing some of the yoga poses can be difficult as you age, while meditation and mindfulness can be taught and practiced comfortably anywhere and at any age.”

Tiffany’s Meditation Program does include movement. “The focus will be on Yoga Nidra, Yin Stretch, and QiGong. I’m currently completing a QiGong teacher training program. I find that it’s easier on the body than yoga, and I love the energetic aspects of this practice.” Tiffany is offering 3 Meditation Training Programs. Click this link for more information.

Each program has core meditation and movement training and uses art therapy for personal growth. Art therapy also includes music and sound. Tiffany says, “Creative arts is a unique way to deepen the learning experience. For each of these training programs, I’ve collaborated with the best local talent available.” Tiffany adds, “I’m excited about all the training programs, but particularly thrilled about the 200-Hour Indigenous and Art Therapy Meditation TT that starts this Fall.” Tiffany has teamed up with Brad and Amanda from THRIVE Tours. “We’ve been working together on this initiative for many months, and we are excited to be able tot bring this to Sault Ste. Marie and beyond.”

In addition to creating socially and culturally relevant programs, Tiffany wants to encourage youth and men and women of all ages to join these programs. She says, “We need more diverse wellness practitioners.”

Meditation Teacher Training can open doors for everyone

Tiffany says, “Quite literally, this training is appropriate for any age and any “body”, not only the young, skinny, and bendy bodies. I wanted to develop a training that would allow more people from various cultures, ages, body sizes, and disabilities to benefit from healing practices so they can in turn, deepen their practice or share their light and gifts with new clients or co-workers.”

The Meditation Trainings have prerequisites, however, if one doesn’t have a regular meditation practice, they are required to do prep work prior to the training. Tiffany says, “This meditation teacher training is suitable for teachers, first responders, social workers, office workers, mental and behavioural health practitioners, doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals. In fact, the meditation training is suitable for anyone.”
